You ever come up with an idea for something really ambitious but way outside of your skill level? I had a moment like that a few years ago listening to the track Embryo where I was struck by the feeling and how it connected to one of my favorite films: Angel's Egg. I then went about the thing any good weeb adjacent person would do, make an AMV  :bleh: .

I'd never done one of these before but I thought it turned out decent. The stupid thought after that was "What if I made it pixel art?"

Was this a good idea? Probably not from several angles but I sure did spend a lot of time doing it! So much that I haven't worked on it in over a year bc I kind of hate working on it now. But who knows! Maybe once I do other things I'll pick it back up refreshed. Or maybe not! I still have over 6 mins of animation to go 😵 and I don't think it'll get too much easier. At this point sunk costs are the biggest reason for me to continue.

oh wow that is a stunning AMV, and those are some gorgeous pixels

when she held onto the egg, i felt that.

that's not even really a joke. i bet there's symbolism here? (cuz, there usually is?) but in both the literal and symbolic sense, holding onto something like that is relatable?

much to consider...

Thanks, it means a lot 🙂. The two source materials are very special to me and I really tried to put them both together in ways that highlighted and emphasized their emotional impacts. If you haven't seen the movie I cannot recommend it higher, only with the caveat be prepared to be confused. I viewed it several times before I think I got a good grasp of it. It also helps to look at a biography of the film's main creatives Oshii Mamoru and Amano Yoshitaka (but only after watching). I'm not sure if its on any conventional streaming services but uh let's just say there are wonderful classic anime archives on the internet

i will endeavor to to do so
