(hopefully i have a demo ready in a couple hours --- i have some business i need to attend to IRL today)

My game is out!

Please enjoy it, and please try to avoid spoilers here (especially since I don't have any spoiler markup extensions installed so far).

You can find the other submissions to Oktrollberfest here. (Note that submissions don't close until about midnight PST today.)

i really like the style of the ascii art in this one
okay but consider: what if the reason i'm morally opposed to remakes is because it's a really funny hill to die on

RT-55J

Thanks!

The art boards are a collab between my wife and I --- I would sketch out a basic idea, she'd turn it into proper line art, and then I'd turn it into a ZZT board.

Okay. I've played 6 out of 7 of the other Oktrollberfest games. Here's my rundown:

d by jakeout - Fun little series of misadventures of a guy who quits his dead-end fast food job in a one-dimensional world. Has a good sense of humor, some solid twists and turns, and a healthy willingness to kill the player. It's a fun time all around. I want to eat a zeepza IRL despite my better judgment.

Red Deviance by Dr. Dos - This is an arena shooter featuring ZZT's trolliest built-in enemy: the centipede. The rules and scoring for the different kinds of centipede colors are a bit Undertale-floortile-game-esque, but once you get the hang of things it's not too bad. The scripting shenanigans to get some mechanics working are truly absurd.

LA VIE MODERNE DE V-QUEL by snorb - The fifth entry in Snorb's long-running parody series of official ZZT worlds (this time parodying "The Best of ZZT Part 2"). All the fun original characters and loving sadism you've come to expect from the series are still here. It's about 2 hours long, and ultimately it manages to be less meanspirited than the game it's based on. Good times.

Flypaper by dave2kb - It's only 10 minutes long, but what an incredible 10 minutes they are. No spoilers, but you should really play this one.

The Case of the Banged-up Banana Truck, pt. 2: October Song by zeketiel - This is a sequel to The Case of the Banged-up Banana Truck, which is a game that was released mid-August, but with an erroneous release date of "October 1." The first game is a very silly adventure game made by a very experienced ZZTer doing some kayfabe as a novice. Its sense of humor and subversion of expectations would have made it a good fit for Oktrollberfest proper. The sequel, on the other hand, is radically different in tone, and only makes sense if you play the first game beforehand, so please do that.

WELCOME TO YUM YUM TOWN by orteruz - This is a very simple two board Megazeux game with 4 NPCs, one of whom is named "gma" which is short for "gmail.com." I solved an ARG puzzle and got a string of characters that I had no idea what to do with.

Magic Quest by Jeremy Kaufmann - I haven't properly played this, but I will say that getting this to even run was the real troll.

"Magic Quest" was an experience.
