Rule: While citations are not needed, please make some effort to be truthful.

Apparently Germans say their phone has the "spider app" if it has a cracked screen.

The other day I was on a Wikipedia binge and learned about the concept of iron stars (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_star).

The idea is that in something like 10^1500 years in the future stars might end up becoming lumps of iron. While their dimness would make very hard to detect (except gravitationally), it is believed that not a single one exists in the universe because of how young the cosmos is.

idk I just thing the concept is really cool and sounds very metal (naturally). It would be a neat conceit to have one in a sci-fi story, perhaps as some remnant of a previous universe or something to that effect.

feels like with a mass like that compared to the size it'd be pretty easy to set up a scifi story where someone warps into uncharted space and ends up in the gravity well. terrifying

The Microsoft Zune's wireless file sharing feature was officially referred to as "squirting" (I already knew this).

A remnant of this nomenclature still exists in Windows under the "fsquirt" command (type it into the start menu search bar if you don't believe me).

Thanks to some really creative numbering in its antediluvian section, the ancient Sumerian King List (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumerian_King_List) purports to cover over a quarter of a million years of royal history.

I know they didn't really overlap, but I would love to watch a debate between a couple Sumerian and Hebrew young-earth creationists.

https://forum.samarantes.net/index.php?action=profile;area=lists;sa=buddies;u=1

QuoteThis area allows you to maintain your buddy and ignore lists for this forum. Adding members to these lists will, amongst other things, help control mail and PM traffic, depending on your preferences.

hmm...
