started this awhile back, did more tonight
man, i can't remember the last time i've painted something besides a wall... :pensive:
looks neat!
i love oil. linseed oil is so cool
I just remembered that I made a painting back in 2018, but I apparently didn't take a good picture of it and I don't know where it is now :pensive:
i bet it was cool. you should do another
need more quinacridone magenta
this too
bought a TON of prussian blue today. idk why but im kind of obsessed with this pigment. it dries really fast for an oil paint which is great and it's a great blue. the other pigment i've been using a lot of is quinacridone magenta which dries extremely slowly. so these are on opposite ends of that spectrum. which can be a little annoying to deal with
post #10 above in this thread was the first of what is so far a series of three. just kind of exploring similar visual stuff: visually indistinct distant hazy images. expressionism. "who put bella in the wych elm", unsolved murder from the 1940s in england. nightmares about things that you can't physically look at.
and so on
the painting so far
This is amazing. The ways the light interacts with the texture is really impressive, I thought it was speckled with something until I looked closer and saw the paint surface
thanks. :smug: unfortunately it was very wet when i took that and it's going to change as it dries. eventually i will try to get a good glossy surface on it but we'll see how it ends up.
a lot of the stuff i've been painting lately has been hard to photograph cause it's so dark. i carry a flashlight on me most of the time so i use that to look at them
started prepping a canvas tonight
sometimes i like to add layers of gesso and sand the canvas once it's dry. this gives a smooth surface for painting. unmodified canvases have a very textured surface from the open fabric underneath.
going to use mostly prussian blue on this one. should be able to do both the underpainting and first layer this weekend because it dries so fast
also this one is almost dry so i put it on the wall

another day, another expressionist painting of eldritch treez
...and another day of trying to figure out what size i should embed at
wych7.png
it looks slightly different now

very pretty. I like the pairing of the trees with what looks like a root system on top
thank you. it's some mysterious eldritch thing up there dw about it
started another one. i need to get practice in on the mechanical ability to draw stuff like clouds, ghostly clouds and wisps, stuff like that. also still using nothing but prussian blue for the time being. there are two layers here, probably going to do at least two more
